When planning a new shed in Newfoundland.
The foundation is an important step.
One that can be easily overlooked, but is essential for providing long life for a new shed.

How To Prepare for a new Shed in Newfoundland?
People will often ask “What type of foundation do I need?”
We always recommend crushed stone.

It's easily accessible and inexpensive.
Works great to fill in the low spots.
Packs in well and levels nicely.
When done right, the building will sit right on top.
Rock gives support through the shed, while allowing the water to drain away.
Keeping the underside dry.

What type of crushed stone?
Most people are familiar with Class A, It's what you see on driveways and works well as
a finishing rock. But it’s a bit pricy.

For the base of the shed, save the fancy rock.
Class B is cheaper and works better; it's a larger stone, packs and holds well for a solid pad.
You can always finish off with class A if desired.
How to get the pad ready?
Hire a local contractor do the pad work.
They have the equipment and access to the crushed stone
It's a simple project for them.

Just tell them to make the building pad 25%-30% bigger than the shed.
Simple!
When prepared with crushed stone, you’re giving your shed a proper pad — one that drains well, stays level, and lasts for years.
It’s one of those “unsexy” steps that makes everything else go right.
